Get Back On Track with Your Diet


Monday is the perfect today to start over. I just had an entire cheat weekend with my diet/exercise program and I'm feeling very lethargic, lazy and unmotivated today. So if you're feeling like this too, here's the perfect way to get yourself back on track this week. 

It's never easy starting over...follow these tips for a little boost!



1- Don't Be Hard on Yourself! We're really fast to point out our shortcomings. It's very easy to beat yourself up when you fall off the wagon. So don't dwell on your little roadblock, overcome it! Compared to where a lot of people are at right now, you've already come a long way. 

2 - Eat a healthy breakfast. Your morning meal sets the stage for the rest of your day, so start if off right. Breakfast provides you with energy and nutrients that will help motivate you to hit the gym later. It also helps to speed up your metabolism in turn burning more fat throughout the day! 

3 - Try a new recipe; maybe a low-fat recipe with fresh fruits and vegetables that are in season. Realize that eating healthy doesn’t mean you can't enjoy your food. Choose a few new healthy recipes for your weekly menu. Here's a great one: Southwestern Chicken Stir-Fry


4 - Try a short workout. Even five minutes is better than nothing. Or, take a new exercise class at the gym or run/walk a different route today. It will kick start your metabolism and make life a little more interesting. Even starting the week with an "easier" workout will help you ease back into it. For example, try out pilates or yoga. 


5 - Track your food and exercise in your journal. Telling someone about your diet block, even telling your journal, and what you are doing about it can help you get back on track. This way you are more inclined to eat healthier when you see your food intake in writing and when the exercise portion of your journal is blank, it will make you more inclined to get your butt to the gym!
