Focus During Workout

What's one of my many pet peeves? People on their phones at the gym. I'll be running on the treadmill and the person next to me will take an incoming call and talk for a good 20 minutes. For starters, you can't get your heart rate up and secondly, you are in no way, shape or form focusing on your task at hand... to workout! The worst is when I see people doing squats while texting. Multitasking is not always a good thing and it's a very bad thing at the gym.

Proper focus can lead to further progress and results in the gym and during your workouts. Too many people never achieve any results or fitness gains due to their lack of focus and little connection between their mind and their muscles. Don't be that person in the gym throwing weights around just to get your workout in. If your mind isn't in it, then you won't be getting much out of it. So don't waste your time! Make every minute of training count!

The only thing your phone should be used for during a workout is to play music, because music can be a great motivation. So if you receive a call or text the next time you're at the gym, I think you can wait an hour to return it or reply. It's the lovely convenience of having a cell phone! So give your workout 100% focus and dedication and you will really see better results.

Don't be THAT guy!!
