Are Raspberry Ketones Really a Miracle Fat Burner?

While Dr. Oz has touted Raspberry Ketones as a "miracle fat burner in a bottle" in February 2012, there have been no human studies that show raspberry ketones burn fat or benefit your weight loss to date. However now, there are interesting studies performed on rats. One study gave male rats raspberry ketones, which resulted in an increased secretion of adiponectin, a protein used by the body to regulate metabolism. As a result, the rat had less fat. Another study fed rats a high-fat diet with varying amounts of raspberry ketones. The rodents that received more raspberry ketones burned more body fat and gained less fat tissue. A third study found that the raspberry ketones stimulated the breakdown of the fat cells after fat cells were exposed to raspberry ketones in a test tube.

Most people associate probiotics with colon and digestive health. But what you don't know is that probiotic intake is beneficial for overall physical and mental health. Probiotics come in a variety of forms, powders, capsules, and foods such as yogurt, dairy drinks, infant formulas, cheese, and even snack bars that are supplemented with specific probiotic organisms. Whichever one you pick may be beneficial for a wide range of health concerns.

Eat Your Omegas!

If you are thinking of adding an omega-3 fatty acid supplement into your diet routine, just take a closer look at the food your consuming. It's recommended that you eat at least two servings each week, but if you have a history of heart disease, 1 gram per day is often recommended.

Some people are not big on eating fish or other omega-3 rich foods, so this is where supplements come in handy. Because the most common side effect of fish oil is indigestion and gas, opting for a supplement with an enteric coating may help cut down on this.

Welcome Fellow Fitness Fans!

Hi Everyone! Thanks for stopping by...

I've started this blog because if you're like me, you may want to know more about fitness gear, grub and grind :) I have been active my entire life, struggled with weight loss and gain, and changed up my eating habits more often than Katy Perry changes her hair style/color!! lol This is my opportunity to share with you the various fitness gadgets, awesome recipes, and workout routines, along with some tips and tricks.

Now you might be wondering..."Why should I listen to her?" Well you don't have to! This is my perspective on things and I hope my reviews and ideas might be able to benefit you in some way. And if you have any feedback or questions, bring 'em on! I'd love to hear from you.

Just know, I am not a fitness/nutrition expert by any means, but I consider this my hobby or passion. I'm an avid gym-goer and take my health seriously, but I'm not that super-buff, 10% body fat, 6-pack abs chick we are all envious of. I consider myself to be like most people who fight the constant battle to live healthy while trying to enjoy indulgences! And note, I do NOT believe in any miracle pills or lose-20lbs-in-a-week scams! Everything takes time and dedication, and if you want to be successful in your journey, you MUST know this.

Aside from all of the above, I actually work in the nutrition industry professionally, for about five years now. Because of this, I learn all kinds of things I never knew before and want to share them with you.

So each entry, I will cover either a gadget, food/recipe, or exercise that I feel like talking about. So be sure to come back and check it out!
