Zombie Rush Obstacle Course Race

It's been a while since I've done an obstacle course race. The last one I did was the Beach Beast back in April and it ultimately led to me hurting my knee... :( Note to self, do not run on the beach anymore. And what made it worse was that the Beach Beast was actually a really bad OCR, I definitely do NOT recommend wasting your money on this one. But I am happy to say that today I registered for the Zombie Rush in October. In the spirit of Halloween, I'll be chased by Zombies while running through Amelia Earhart Park in Hialeah, FL on the 19th.
I actually debated whether to register as a human or a zombie lol The zombies go through an hour of makeup! Judging from the video on the website, these zombies look pretty real! (I mean if zombies actually existed...)

Obstacle course races have become the new fitness craze. They are popping up everywhere and people are actually training for them. If you haven't tried one, you are certainly missing out! They provide a fun alternative to the regular 5k runs. So if running really isn't your thing, you may just fall in love with this new fitness fad just like me. If you don't mind getting down and dirty, jumping over fires, swimming through swamps, or working your way through obstacles, then these were made for you. You can join these as a team, go as an individual, dress in a costume, or run in a competitive wave. There's something for everyone.

I'm completely ready for this one though. All year, my training has been getting more and more intense. I've been running more than 30 miles each month. I have been lifting weights, doing countless squats, attending more boot camp and kickboxing classes than I ever imagined I would, and actually learned to love burpees. So no zombies can stop this girl!

Of the four that I've done, there's always an after party and you receive a cool medal to prove you are tough obstacle course racer!

If you've never done one before and aren't sure where to start, check out this chart. It's an easy guide to know which is best for your comfort level and fitness level.

Find a race near you! Let me know which ones you've done or which one you plan to do!
